Overview

We are working with a well-established and growing contractor specialising in the fit-out of healthcare facilities. With an annual turnover of approximately £30m, the business offers a stable environment alongside genuine opportunities for progression.

They are now looking to appoint a Junior Estimator to join their commercial team. This role goes beyond traditional estimating — they are seeking someone dynamic, commercially aware, and confident engaging with clients.

The Role

As a Junior Estimator, you will support the pricing and tendering of healthcare fit-out projects ranging from £100k to £5m. While experience working with bills of quantities is valuable, this role requires someone who can also think on their feet, communicate effectively, and represent the business professionally in client-facing situations.

This is a predominantly office-based role, working closely with senior estimators, commercial staff, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates and tenders for healthcare fit-out projects

  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation

  • Supporting the pricing of labour, materials, subcontractors, and preliminaries

  • Engaging with supply chain and subcontractors for pricing information

  • Attending meetings and contributing to client presentations when required

  • Working collaboratively with the wider commercial and delivery teams

About You

  • Junior-level estimating experience within construction or fit-out (healthcare experience desirable but not essential)

  • Commercially minded with the ability to think beyond standard BOQ-based estimating

  • Confident, presentable, and comfortable communicating with clients and stakeholders

  • Proactive, adaptable, and keen to develop within a growing business

  • Able to commute to Halifax on a daily basis
